hi I am going to replace a front hub on my 2009 captiva been having problems with abs warning light does anyone know the torque setting for the hub nut

Rob, before you replace the hub, have you double checked that the ABS warning light isnt a problem with a dirty or failed sensor, or a cracked or damaged reluctor ring. Eliminate the sensor and reluctor ring otherwise you may go through hassle of hub replacement only to find the ABS warning light still there!Dont have torque setting - sorry.

already changed speed sensor took two lights off when ignition turned onbut not abs light reluctor ring is inside the hub so you would have to take hub apart to check it

Hi Rob, I thought reluctor ring was externally visible, but not on Captiva - my mistake. I was trying to avoid you a task.
Bel has come up trumps with the technical info (as usual) - well done Bel.

just like to update on front hub got new one from ebay ÂŁ60 fitted it two days ago no problem fitting it abs light did not go of had it reset at local auto electrician then fun began we took car for road test traction control trying to operate under normal driving and abs operating under normal braking he checked it with his reader and new hub speed sensor showing wheel turning at a slower speed than other 3 wheels he suspects abs pick up ring has a different amount of notches on it making abs think wheel is turning slower than it is back to square one

2009 Captiva.

Last year had the recall for brake fluid change. A few months later abs and traction lights on for a few days then off. Keeps happening.

Had my left front hub changed due to bearing noise and vibration (ÂŁ280).Fitted new front tyres to eliminate the vibration, that cured OK.
Told that the ABS pump showed it had failed on the plug in tester..Eventually the lights went off again, then a few days later on again. On for a few days then off for a few days. So is the pump defective or not? Braking otherwise is excellent.

New noise from front left, could it be the drive shaft bearing.
Never ever again will I buy Chevrolet.

Forgot to mention the bloody inside movement alarm, have to press the button on the roof panel every time I want to lock up, If I forget alarm goes off.

Oh, and the sticky foam holding the letters 'CAPTIVA' on the boot lid doesn't stand up to car wash, lost some and the gold legend on the front grill.

Hi Al, seeing that you've been a forum member since Aug 2012 it is a pity you are only now adding a post which sounds so negative.Just reading some of your post and applying some initial detective work it sounds very much as if your ABS flashing light could be no more than a 'loose connection' or a contaminated sensor. Intermittent 'on and off' is fairly typical of a wire that has cracked through (due to vibration) or not been fully pushed home, or simply slightly corroded.
As for the false triggering of alarm - this has been well documented in this forum and indeed I've answered another today for same subject. This is usually due to pressing the key fob lock function too soon after closing last door. Close up, count to ten and then press fob. The internal sensing circuits need to complete their 'set mode' first. If you press the lock fob too soon the security sequence is incomplete which results in interruption mode and false alarm later.
Noise from front left - on such scant description it's hard to say. Worth noting that on the Series I model the front drop links were subject to being problematic.
Was it the car-wash or 'collectors fingers' that damaged your motif. The front gold 'bow tie' is known to have a void behind it into which water collects. I sealed around mine with vaseline to prevent water ingress.
All sound to me to be solvable issues and/or the standard joys of vehicle ownership!
